CLASSIC ADHESIVE TAPES FOR MANUAL OR MACHINE PROCESSING

The classic adhesive tapes are applied in a spiral and overlapping manner around wireharnesses / wire harness areas.

The requirements for wire binding differ according to installation position. The following basic applications can be relevant:

  • Temperature resistance
certoplast offers products that can be used long-term in temperatures up to 150°C, short-term even up to 175°C. We offer specific products for the various temperature classes (85, 105, 125 and 150 °C).
  • Abrasion protection
Our adhesive tapes also provide mechanical protection for wire harnesses and thus make additional binding unnecessary, which, in turn, saves weight and costs. It is our standard practice to state the abrasion classes according to the corresponding German norm, which is also being increasingly used in the US and China. The abrasion classes are determined with a needle-abrasion test in accordance with the norm.
  • Noise dampening
Especially for the interior of vehicles, it is necessary to attenuate any noises caused by "flying" building components in order to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of customers. Bindings with noise dampening properties offer additional protection.
  • Disruptive protection
The insulation properties of the used material are especially important for the insulation of splices in wire harnesses. Accordingly, we offer products with various degrees of disruptive protection.
  • Installation position / Media resistance
The requirements for media resistance vary depending on the installation position – i.e. inner compartment, engine room or vehicle body or frame. Tapes for the engine room must obviously be capable of resisting the occurring media in this area.

We rely on various carrier materials and adhesives in order to ensure that our tapes provide the necessary characteristics. We are always developing new state-of-the-art mixtures and formulas in order to guarantee the highest environmental compatibility, performance and greatest economic efficiency.

Thus, we already discontinued the usage of solvent-based adhesives in the 1990s. We only use dispersion acrylate, synthetic rubber and UV acrylate adhesives in our products.

Our carrier materials consist of PVC, polyester, viscose and polyamide. We use foils, fabrics, fleeces, velour and other knitted fabrics as carrier materials. And we always make sure that the materials and potential admixtures in all our carrier materials are free of SVHCs and permissible in the various regions according to the guidelines of our customers. Already today, our PVC foils, e.g., are naturally free of halogen or heavy metal-based flame retardants and monomeric softeners.
